    We listen first.

A short conversation with you and your child. Interests, what school is and is not covering, anything we should handle gently.

  2. 02

    They build something.

One-to-one with a Mentor, on real kit. A robot, a game scene, an Arduino circuit. Whatever fits your child.

  3. 03

    You keep the plan.

A written recommendation on course and starting level. Decide in your own time. No same-day pressure, no follow-up sales call.

Courses at Shirley.

Six courses running now. Every Robocoder picks one and works through it at their own pace, and can move across later if their interests change.

Weekly two-hour Studio Labs.

Every Robocoder works through a structured Course pathway. The same Mentor every week, maximum eight per Studio Lab, all equipment provided.

Ages 6–9

Younger Programme.

Two-hour weekly Studio Labs with real circuits and coding. Monthly hands-on building projects. No prior experience needed.

Ages 10–17

Older Programme.

Arduino, C++, Python and university-level concepts in plain English. Pathway through BCS Level 1 & 2 (GCSE-equivalent) and on to GCSE Computer Science.

Not a coding club. A pathway.

W.01

GCSE-equivalent qualifications.
BCS Level 1 and Level 2, recognised by schools, colleges and employers. Some of our Robocoders have completed GCSE Computer Science aged 11 and 12.

W.02

Self-paced, by design.
Your child is not stopped by the slowest student in the class, and is not too rushed by the fastest. Each child works through their own Course.

W.03

Small groups, one Mentor.
Maximum eight Robocoders per Studio Lab, the same Mentor every week. Calmer for SEND children. Better for every child.

W.04

On-site exam centre.
Shirley is a BCS exam centre. Children sit their Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications in the room they already learn in.

Make weekly classes affordable.

Robocode is an Ofsted-registered childcare provider, so our weekly classes qualify for the UK’s main childcare funding routes.

F.01

Tax-Free Childcare.
For every £8 you pay, the government adds £2, up to £500 per quarter (up to £2,000 per child per year).

F.02

Childcare Vouchers.
Members of an existing Childcare Voucher scheme can save up to £933 a year through providers like Edenred, Sodexo and Computershare.

F.03

Universal Credit.
Eligible parents can claim back up to 85% of childcare costs, capped at £951/month for one child or £1,630/month for two or more.
